This new 13.8-fold zoom is equipped with the SIGMA OS technology that reliably reduces camera shake and compensates for camera movement. If the camera system is already equipped with image stabilization, the lens can be used in its place the Hybrid Optical Stabilizer, thereby stabilizing and the viewfinder image.
The image circle of this compact zoom Universal was developed specifically for digital SLR cameras with sensors up to the recording APS-C format. Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and three aspherical lenses eliminate the most common aberrations. The SIGMA SML compensation prevents ghosting caused by reflections at the sensor surface and provides optimum image quality throughout the zoom range. Thanks to the Internal Focusing turns the front lens of the lens when focusing with not allowing the convenient use of a polarizing filter and allows the use of a tulip shaped lens hood. The minimum focusing distance of 45cm at all focal lengths and a resulting magnification of up to 1:3.4 is ideal for close-up and detail shots. The Sigma HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) technology makes it fast and silent focusing.
